At the Whanganui Community Foundation we believe in the power of community. That is why on Wednesday 8th June we brought together a group of community leaders with diverse backgrounds and views to discuss how, together, we can create an exciting future for Whanganui.
We know that shared vision, diverse leadership and networking between sectors are all important to achieving better health status, higher educational outcomes, lower crime and better economic growth that benefits all sectors of the community. Together, we can make this a reality.
There was huge energy in the room as around 100 people considered Whanganui’s strengths, and dreamed about possibilities
Sustainability, in its many forms, resiliency, connectedness, diversity and celebration were all words that came up again and again. Towards the end of the day we focused on how we might achieve this with fun and low cost ideas
Imagineering was a word that captured the imagination; a process of bringing people in community together to discuss possibilities. Already two organisations have offered to host an Imagineering. Maybe it could go viral – wow that would really get us going.
